It was nice to wake this morning to hear rain from about 3am courtesy of a thunderstorm.
While total falls are varying wildly, most hope it is a hopeful sign of a much better wet season this year.
Officially Tindal has received 5.2mm but there are reports of 8mm, and of course some missed out completely.
The town received the lion's share of the storm.
Katherine's September average is 9.3mm.

Last year the town received zero rain during September in a taste of things to come.
It comes on a day the Bureau of Meteorology says Katherine's temperature will rise to a possible record 40 degrees.
Temperatures for the rest of the week are expected to be between 38-40 degrees.
The overnight temperatures will all be above 20 degrees and there's not much chance of more rain this week as we get about the business of the build up.
