The video he posted of his fishing trip to the Victoria River near Timber Creek a week ago has been watched 1.6 million times.
A further 200,000 people watched his Rod and Rifle Tackleworld Facebook post in a single day yesterday.
That includes 12,000 shares of the post and 4000 comments, just on his page alone.
Trent hooked a crocodile while fishing for barramundi in the popular fishing spot, and to the applause of his global audience managed to fight to retrieve his lure.
Even though it was well chewed.
"Whatever line he was using I'd like to buy in bulk," Sean Marshall commented on the post.
"Going to have to raise the price of that combo in the shop now after this footage?" Trent Easton wrote.
"That's insane! I would have been quite content giving up some line and a lure if I saw this thing in my hook," Brandon Philbrick said.
"I need one of his rods! Didn't snap with a croc on it," was a comment from Tailah Jensen.
"Well done Trent. I shared the video to my American friends so I know they were very impressed. An Aussie guy showing them how it's done in the NT. Congratulations!" commented Gail Marsh.
"Hahaha gunna need a bigger boat," offered Jono Amos.
Despite the Territory's border closures there are a lot of anglers out on local waterways with the running of the government-backed million dollar fish campaign.
Already $65,000 has been handed out with six red tagged fish caught as fishos try and catch that one tagged barra worth $1 million.
