People braved the intense heat, humidity and threat of a storm to come to the opening.
New Katherine MLA Jo Hersey kindly agreed to take on the responsibility of officially opening our Rotary enterprise by organising for Belinda to attend and join in the activities.
"We are in the process of getting a sponsors board made as a tribute to the generous people, businesses and town council that have given time and money to establish this club," club secretary Chris Dixon said.
There was a free community BBQ, Geocache competition, mobile driving simulator demonstration and other computer-based activities.
"During the day we were entertained by the famous band 'Moonshadow' who paid tribute to Slim Dusty by playing requests from the audience," Mr Dixon said.
"From the feedback we received, we will be expanding our range of programs in the near future."
