Trent de With, who manages Rod and Rifle Tackleworld, said his wrestle to retrieve his lure from a crocodile in the Victoria River attracted a global audience to his shop's Facebook page.
"We've had people from all over the world messaging us just asking questions about it," he said.
"People in Australia as well, surprised you can actually hook a crocodile and get it to the boat."
Mr de With said the numbers have been significant.
"It's all about your exposure on Facebook and it's been awesome for that, like our page jumped up almost 2000 likes," he said.
"Which is quite a lot, and for free."
He said the international exposure will be good for business when tourists start coming back to the NT.
"A lot of people put that in the back of their mind (and think) I might drop in there and see those guys while I'm in Katherine."
The video of Mr de With went viral last week, after 200,000 people watched it on his Rod and Rifle Tackleworld Facebook post in a single day.
When asked if he was happy with the exposure he said, "Yeah absolutely, for free far out, a fishing trip with an iPhone, absolutely."
