No weather experts are suggesting any optimism for rain in Katherine over the next week, the same for much of the Top End.
Only more heat.
One weather website suggests "clouds are usually sparse over northern Australia during November as the monsoon trough is yet to arrive".
It is true until the arrival of the monsoons, which most had hoped would be early with all the La Nina predictions, Katherine's rain will come from a head-on storm.
The Bureau of Meteorology says Katherine can expect a run of 41-42 degree days over the next week, with little chance of rain other than tonight.
Overnight temperatures will range from a low of 27-28 degrees as the build up continues.
