A female pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Katherine and then run over by the same vehicle in a bizarre incident last night.

Police are calling for public help after the alleged hit and run near the Visitor Information Centre.
Police say the vehicle which first struck the female pedestrian was then stolen by another pedestrian which ran over her legs as she lay injured.
She was taken to Katherine Hospital for treatment to her injuries.
About 9.45pm, a group of people were walking across Katherine Terrace towards Lindsay Street, when a Toyota Hilux allegedly struck a female pedestrian.
Police say the driver stopped and attempted to assist the woman.
A male pedestrian then allegedly assaulted the driver of the Hilux and stole his vehicle.
Police say the male pedestrian then allegedly fled the scene which led to a police chase.
Police said they terminated the pursuit due to high speeds involved.
The male driver was also taken to hospital for treatment.
Police are now searching for a white Toyota Hilux with NT registration 941067.
