Despite a torrential downpour in the last quarter of the game, the Redtails dominated in their 12.18 (90) to 5.10 (40) win over Big Rivers on Saturday afternoon.
Scoring in the first quarter of the representative clash was slow with Redtails' Tosh Kunoth kicking the only major.
By the second term, the game was speeding up, pushing the Redtail's margin out to 30 points by half time.
Liam Patrick kicked Katherine's only major, while Dylan Barry, Nigel Lockyer and Luke Farrows added to Alice's goal list.
"The game was very fast moving, hot, high pressure," Big Rivers captain Andrew Symes said.
"They really put the pressure on in the first half, by by the second half we had regrouped and worked out where we were going wrong."
Accustomed to playing in wet and humid conditions, the Katherine team closed the gap with scores in the last quarter as rain drenched the field.
Liam Patrick kicked the last goal for Big Rivers with Joel Budarick and the rest of the defensive side working hard to keep the Redtails at bay.
"We were able to handle the heat well, even if it didn't show up on the scoreboard. By the end we were really putting the pressure on," Symes said.
With only one training session behind them, Symes said he was proud of his team's dedication, and had plans to generate a more permanent rep side for Katherine.
"Everyone played their part, they knew their roles and put their best effort forward."
Redtails' Dylan Barry fought hard in the game, resulting in multiple majors and the Best on Ground award.
