The first adult training session battled through wet weather on Thursday with two more scheduled for the next two weeks.
Coaches Anzac Leidig and Jess Polack will also be in the Katherine region running tennis clinics for schools in the town and surrounding communities.
Mr Leidig said the school program created an opportunity to hold adult beginner level sessions at the Katherine Tennis Club and grow its membership.
"We're trying to build some numbers, get some new people involved," Mr Leidig said.
Mr Leidig previously worked for the Evonne Goolagong Foundation, training the next generation of Australian tennis stars.
Now, his attention has been turned to fostering the game at the grassroots level and encouraged adults of all abilities to come to the next Thursday training session.
"We'll get their confidence up a little bit," he said.
"Tennis is all about making mistakes and learning from them."
Mr Leidig said the increased presence is part of a "jam-packed" regional schedule for Tennis NT, which plans to deliver tennis programs not only in Katherine but the Tiwi Islands, Barkly Region and Arnhem Land.
"The main thing for me is getting to know the local communities."
Fostering new talent in the NT is all about "getting comfortable on the court" and "learning some new tricks" according to Mr Leidig.
Katherine Tennis Club host a social tennis hit out every Sunday night and the Katherine Open on the May Day long weekend.
