The Chief Health Officer is directing anyone who has been in a New South Wales COVID-19 case locations since 30 April 2021 to undertake 14 days of quarantine at a suitable place effective immediately.
Anyone currently in the Northern Territory who has visited a NSW COVID-19 case location, must immediately get tested and undertake 14 days of quarantine in their home or at a suitable place. They must remain in quarantine (unless to get tested) until noon of the 14th day after being in the New South Wales case location, regardless of whether a negative COVID-19 test is returned or not.
Arrivals into the NT from 12.01am on 6 May 2021 who have been to a New South Wales COVID-19 case location are required to undertake 14 days mandatory supervised quarantine at either the Alice Springs or Howard Springs facilities. They must remain in quarantine until noon on the 14th day after the person was in a NSW case location and must submit to testing for COVID-19 while in quarantine.

The Chief Health Officer will continue to review and assess the COVID-19 situation across Australia, and will declare a hotspot at any time if required. All people travelling to the Northern Territory are required to complete an online border entry form upon arrival.If you are intending to travel to the Northern Territory from a COVID-19 hotspot you are advised to rethink your plans. STAY INFORMED
The Chief Health Officer has urged Territorians not to become complacent as the COVID-19 situation can change quickly. Personal behaviour including practising high levels of hygiene and physical distancing remain our best defence against COVID-19.
PEOPLE ARRIVING IN THE NT ARE REMINDED TO FOLLOW ALL HEALTH REGULATIONS
- If you have COVID-19 symptoms, do not travel.
- Make sure you get tested and stay at home, maintain a physical distance of 1.5m at all times.
- Wash your hands with soap and water and use hand sanitiser regularly.
- Cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue.
- Put your tissue in the bin straight away.
- Do not go to work if you feel sick.
- If you have symptoms, stay away from others and call a doctor or the NT COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 008 002
One new COVID-19 case has been recorded in the Northern Territory in the past 24 hours.
A 39-year-old male, who arrived on the repatriation flight from London on 4 May 2021 has tested positive for COVID-19.
He is asymptomatic and under the care of the AUSMAT team at the NT Centre for National Resilience.
Since repatriation flights to the Northern Territory began on 23 October 2020:
- 6870 international arrivals have undertaken quarantine at the Howard Springs Centre for National Resilience.
- A total of 122 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported from international repatriation.
The total number of cases diagnosed in the Northern Territory is 168. All cases have been related to international or interstate travel, with no cases of community transmission.
