Parties are to pre-register their interest in developing the site, located at 40 Giles Street, Katherine, with a formal Expression of Interest to follow.
"The redevelopment of the Katherine Sports and Recreation Club site will open new doors and opportunity for Katherine, while improving on the availability of tourism facilities in the town," Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Eva Lawler said.
"We are making sure there are projects for interested parties to deliver on, including the construction of a new hotel in Katherine, which this pre-registration EoI is calling for."
The former clubhouse and ancillary buildings that were on the site were demolished in late 2020 by local business, Option Group Pty Ltd on behalf of Government.
The site, Lot 3017, Town of Katherine, is a 1.96 hectare parcel of Crown land.
The Territory Government will be seeking detailed proposals or concepts from parties interested in redeveloping the site for purposes that;
- Revitalise the site
- Maintain areas of open green space and connectivity to the Katherine River corridor, and
- Deliver on the hotel accommodation market requirements for Katherine
