There's a new quiz in town called Win The Week and although it sounds like a couple of other Q&A programs with celebrities involved, it does have a few different hooks.
At the helm is Alex Lee (The Checkout, The Feed) who explains the categories to the three teams, each of which is captained by an everyday Aussie paired with a celebrity.
"I think it's such a fun concept. We get to see a side of celebrities we don't usually see, and the interaction between them and their team captain in the 'Stay or Betray' segment is a lot of fun," Lee says.
The team captain with the lowest score must choose their celebrity to stay, or betray them by taking a celebrity from one of the other two teams.
The celebrities are given a chance to plead their case, but it all comes down to how badly the captains want to win.
Lee says being able to show off your knowledge, yell the answers at the TV, and compete with family members from the couch is a very social thing.
"You might think the regular Aussies would be intimidated but in the pilots they stole the show a lot of the time.
"We have a team of writers who trawl through the news, and it's not just trivia. Some of the questions are funny but much of the comedy comes from the team dynamics and the trading of celebrities.
"And it's not just about being mean and tossing the celebrity away. It becomes a difficult decision because they get friendly with them."
Craig Reucassel (War on Waste, the Chaser) will be a regular celebrity providing it is a "not-too-hard quiz". Others will include the likes of Andrew Denton, Annabel Crabb, and Zoe Coombs Marr.
