If you're interested in standing for Katherine Council, nominations are set to open next week.
To assist the community with the elections, Katherine Town Council has partnered with Local Government Association Northern Territory (LGANT) and Northern Territory Electoral Commission (NTEC) to host an information session on Tuesday, July 13 2021, 5pm at the Civic Centre.
Council encourages the community to attend.
Here are all the details on the lead up to the election.
Dates Action Time
- Friday, July 16 Nominations open
- Tuesday, July 27 Electoral roll closes 5:00pm
- Thursday, August 5 Nominations close 12:00pm
- Monday, August 9 Postal vote mail-out
- Monday, August 16 Early voting commences 8am
- Friday, August 27 Early voting ceases 6pm
Saturday, August 28, Election Day
- 8:00am - Voting commences.
- 6:00pm - Voting ceases, primary counts of ordinary, mobile, postal and early votes commence.
Friday, September 10
Deadline for receipt of postal votes distribution of preferences.
Monday, September 13
Declaration of the election result. Time to announced at later date.
