School zones have a speed limit of 40km/h and are generally in force between 7am and 5pm.
Senior Sergeant John Ginnane said, "Our interstate visitors may not be aware that school zones are in effect all day on school days, and not just at pick-up and drop-off times.
"Visitors should also be aware that school hours differ in the Territory - our junior pedestrians are active much earlier than they are interstate," Senior Sergeant Ginnane said.
"Kids don't have the same awareness of their surroundings as adults. It's up to all road users to keep our kids safe and be prepared for the unexpected."
