Ms Clark, who has a background in horticulture, has been on Council for 13 years and became Mayor following the retirement of long-serving former Mayor, Fay Miller, in September.
She said she feels she has the support of locals coming into the upcoming election.
"I have had a number of locals that asked if I would consider standing again," Ms Clark said.
Ms Clark said she first decided to run when the municipal boundaries of the Katherine Local Government Area were extended to include surrounding rural areas.
More election news:
"I came on originally because all the Aldermen that were on the Council at the time were basically townspeople...then they moved out to our area," Mr Clark said.
"I've been involved with the Northern Territory Horticultural Association for a number of years, and all of those sorts of different groups like that. And when Council moved their boundaries out, I decided to put my hand up to have a rural person on Council."
"When the strategic plan is done that will determine the next direction that council will go," she said.
"The community will decide what they would like to see and council will implement the plan."
She said although there are a number of things within Council that could be improved, she applauded the work Council does.
"The current culture at Katherine Town Council is really great. Everyone works as a team," Ms Clark said.
"There are improvements [to be made] in many areas of Council. Things are on track and everyone is trying very hard to make things better."
Long-term, Mr Clark said she would like to see a transport hub built in Katherine to service the area's growing trucking industry.
"They need to eat, sleep and have other amenities that are easier to access than what is available at present."
She also said tackling anti-social behaviour is an important, long-term issue for Katherine.
