What is the lockdown area for Katherine.
The lockdown includes the municipality of Katherine, the RAAF Tindal airbase and surrounds.
What about Darwin?
The geographic boundaries for the Greater Darwin area are the same as the last lockdown - so it includes places like Wagait and Dundee.
Where will I be stopped?
Katherine: The cut-off point will be just north of the Edith Falls turn-off so, don't head further north. If travelling to and from Tindal you will be caught up. Police will be just south of the Tindal turn-off and then also just west of Manbullloo as it heads along the Victoria Highway.
Darwin: As last time it be locked down at bridge on the Adelaide River on the Arnhem Highway and north of Adelaide River. if you are outside that area you will be allowed to return into Greater Darwin but have to stay at home afterwards
Can I travel into and out of a lockdown area?
The message is do not enter unless you need to. Do not leave unless you meet an exemption, which are limited.
Territorians in the lockdown areas should not travel - including out of the Territory - unless it is for one of the five reasons. All people are required to remain at home during the lockdown. You cannot leave the lockdown area to travel to another location in the Territory.
You can travel from one lockdown area to another lockdown area in order to go home.
Those people in the Greater Darwin and Katherine region who need to leave the Northern Territory can only leave by air. You can't drive out - you'll be turned around.
You will be subject to the border controls in place at the state or Territory that you are travelling to. This may include 14 days of quarantine in some jurisdictions. It is recommended you check the travel requirements of the state health department for advice and quarantine requirements.
You can transit through a lockdown area if required but not must stop, unless for fuel.
The lockdown started at noon. How do I get my kids from school as I'm working?
School buses will run as normal at 2.30pm. I you can pick up children earlier then do, but Chief Minister Michael Gunners aid it was important children didn't get on buses early to find themselves alone on arrival at the other end. There would be no penalties for parents who didn't collect children by noon.

If I'm a close close contact, what do I do?
Quarantine and call the Coronvirus hotline and let them know. They will sort out your testing. The plan is to test in Katherine on Tuesday, August 16. Mr Gunner said that when you test is very important to get the right information. "We want to control those close contact testinsg to make sure they are prioritised and we get those results back ASAP," he said. "But also that we test you on the right day so that we get the right result."
What about a casual contact?
If they apply to you immediately isolate, call the COVID hotline to book an appointment for a test, and stay isolated until you receive a negative test result.
Do I need to be tested if I'm just "worried" but not part of an at-risk group?
Health officials have asked for people to avoid doing going to be test if they are just "worried" as it slowed down the testing process in Darwin last lockdown.

The COVID-19 Hotline number is 1800 490 484.
Can my business stay open?
Mr Gunner said the litmus test for businesses staying open were "are you essential for keeping people alive". That's mainly food and outlets. If so, your business can stay open. If not, then it's click and collect. He mentioned Bunnings as an example of a business that would do click and collection, not "go in and browse".
I'm still not sure what to do about my business. What do I do?
Call the COVID-19 hotline and they can help you.
Do I have to wear a mask if I'm in a lockdown area?
Yes. And make sure you wear it - not have it hanging off your chin. You'll need to provide medical evidence if you have a bone fide reason not to wear a mask and will be asked by police to produce that evidence.

Think about buying a takeaway meal or coffee, using click or collect or ordering online to support local Katherine business.
