People travelling the Stuart Highway and Victoria Highways through Katherine have been advised to plan to pick up petrol outside of the town where possible.

Commissioner of Police and CEO of Fire and Emergency Services Jamie Chalker said that motorists could travel through Katherine, but couldn't linger.
He advised people to plan to get petrol at either Pine Creek or Mataranka rather than Katherine.
While people can stop for fuel in Katherine, they were being advised to make other arrangements.

Commissioner Chalker, in today's press conference, also reminded people it could be a long-way between petrol stops on the highways.
While roadblocks were being removed around Darwin as restrictions lifted at noon, they would remain in place in Katherine as the lockdown had been extended to noon Friday pending further testing results.
Commissioner Chalker said that police would be checking the time people arrived at roadblocks around Katherine to ensure that they were moving through the town swiftly.
Police road blocks are in at the Edith Falls Road and south of the city near the Tindal turn-off, which traffic to RAAF Tindal also affected
There is also a roadblock just west of Manbullloo as it heads along the Victoria Highway.
