The team, led by CEO Siobhan Mackay, is set to run 1300km in 19 days - with team members taking part from around the country.

"All of the staff at KWILS are doing and we've also organised some support from afar. One of our support workers is at Uluru at the moment so she's running around Uluru," Ms Mackay said.

"My brother in Canberra is also going it and we've got friends in Adelaide and Melbourne taking part."

Ms Mackay said the initiative aims to raise awareness about domestic violence in regional areas like Katherine.

"It really shines a spotlight on violence in regional and remote communities," she said.

"The prevalance of DV in those communities and how widespread it is...it doesn't discriminate."

People can still get involved by joining the running team and helping cover some of the distance, or donations can be made through a fundraising campaign which goes towards the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN).

NAPCAN's Loce Bites program is a respectful relationships education program aimed at Australian teenagers.

"It is often the areas in most need that struggle to raise the funds to train facilitators particularly if they are in rural or regional areas where it can be difficult to even get to the training, and where there can be high staff turnover. The funding from RAV will be a huge boost for some of these areas," Ms Mackay said.
