The fire ban notice that had included Katherine has now been amended to the Litchfield Municipality and Coomalie Shire.
Update: 4pm:
A fire ban has been declared for Katherine for September 7 as hot, windy weather continues to create hazardous conditions in the Top End.
A 24-hour ban was announced on Monday afternoon for Katherine, Darwin, Adelaide River, Batchelor and Pine Creek emergency response areas for Tuesday, September 7.
The warning covers the Darwin and Adelaide River fire weather forecast area and Northern Fire Protection Zone.
Earlier:
A 24-hour fire ban period has been declared for the Darwin and Adelaide River fire weather forecast area for Monday.
The ban started at midnight and will continue until midnight on September 6.
During the ban fires cannot be lit an area which includes Darwin, Batchelor and Adelaide River Emergency Response Areas and the Litchfield Municipality and Coomalie Shire.

Darwin is forecast to hit a high of 33 degrees on Monday with winds of up to 30km/h becoming lighter in the evening. Temperatures are expected to hover around the mid 30 degrees for most of the week.
The forecast for Katherine is for temperatures in the mid-30s all week with winds of between 20km/h and 40 km/h predicted.
No rain is forecast for the Katherine area this week.
