Kicking off on Friday September 24 and running until Sunday October 3, this year's NAIDOC Week celebrations for Katherine will feature 17 events based on this year's theme of Heal Country!
The annual NAIDOC Week march on September 24 is set to be as big as ever, with a RAAF flyover scheduled for 10.15am, followed by the NAIDOC Awards, which recognise the achievements of local Indigenous people.
OTHER NEWS:
Activities Coordinator Toni Tapp Coutts said celebrations had to be postponed due to a COVID breakout in Darwin earlier this year, but it was important for NAIDOC week to still be commemorated.
"It's about recognising the contribution and importance of Indigenous people and culture to our community."
"It's just a great week of celebration and being inclusive to people within our community who often don't have any access to celebrate their culture."
