Macedon and Moorabool local government areas in Victoria have been declared COVID-19 hotspots for the purposes of travel to the Territory.

The Chief Health Officer added the two areas as of September 22 at 5pm after cases emerged in the regions.

If you have been in any declared Covid-19 hotspots or public exposure sites in the last 14-days you are not be permitted entry into the Northern Territory unless you are a returning resident with proof of residency.

People from the Shire of Moorabool LGA or the Shire of Macedon Ranges LGA with an approved exemption to travel to the NT and who arrive after 5.00pm today, will be required to undertake 14 days of mandatory supervised quarantine at the Alice Springs or Howard Springs quarantine facilities.

If you arrive without prior approval, you will be required to return to your place of departure at your own expense and you could also be fined $5,024 for being in breach of the CHO Directions.

A testing direction remains in place for anyone who arrives in the NT from other areas of regional Victoria.

People are required to travel directly to a suitable place, self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19. They must remain in isolation until a negative test is returned and continue to monitor for symptoms.
