On Sunday 31 October, COTA NT is inviting all Territorians to make time to spend with their grandparents, grandies, older kin and carers to say thank you, we love you and couldn't do without you!

A free community resources kit to help all would-be event organisers is available which includes everything needed to host a successful event, be it big or small.

The kit includes an ideas sheet, event and budget planner, bunting, posters, invitations and social media tiles.

COTA NT is organising its first Grandparents Day event too in Darwin featuring fairies, magic, games, activities and morning tea, plus information from numerous services who help to support older carers with finances, activities, respite and more.

Many older kin are the mainstay of family and community life, and this day is set aside in a year of busy days to slow down and say thanks.

But it's always a good time to spend time with grandies.

Sandy McLean's family from Adelaide River and Darwin get together every Sunday with a family picnic - pretty priceless!

The magical touch of Great Grandmother Sandy is evident as after a few initial tears, her little great granddaughter ended up smiling for the camera!
