While the event was postponed earlier in the year due to a COVID-19 outbreak, the excitement for the event was ever-present, according to activities coordinator Toni Tapp Coutts.
"The atmosphere and participation has been really good. So far it has been a really lovely celebration," Ms Tapp Coutts said.
"I would think there were about three to four hundred people at the march which ended with the awards so there was a nice audience there. People really went out of their way to participate.
"NAIDOC week was pushed back and September was picked to be inclusive of the school holidays, and it gave us more time to organise and publicise the events.
"Everyone comes together to celebrate NAIDOC week which is really nice."
With multiple events still to come based on this year's theme, Heal Country!, Ms Tapp Coutts is hoping locals continue to commemorate the achievements, culture and history of Indigenous peoples.
"We really encourage people to come along to all of the events," she said.
"The big one this week is the Kalano Family Fun Day. We want to see people get involved and enjoy all of the entertainment and information stalls. There's a nice variety of things for people to do.
"We really need to thank the committee who have put in so much of their personal time to ensure this is a well organised event. You can't have these sorts of celebrations without volunteers."
