Businesses who have had to cease trading or have suffered a revenue loss of 50 per cent are eligible for an immediate payment of $1000 as part of the Territory Business Lockdown Payment,
Eligible small businesses are those who are actively trading with a turnover of $75,000 to $10 million and less than 20 full-time equivalent staff.
The payment will help to cover ongoing costs, and provide support over the 72 hour lockdown period.
"We know these lockdowns hurt, but they are necessary to keep Territorians safe," Chief Minister Michael Gunner said.
OTHER COVID-19 NEWS:
"Until our vaccination rates are high enough, we will keep taking these necessary measures to save lives.
"The best thing Territorians can do is get vaccinated. Do it for yourself, your family and your community. It is our best defence for re-opening and saying see ya later lockdowns for good."
The Territory Labor Government paid out more than $4.6 million in funding to support small businesses in the first two COVID-19 lockdowns.
"Our thoughts are with all the small businesses who are once again feeling the impacts of the lockdown, and we're hopeful these payments will offer some short-term support," Minister for Small Business Paul Kirby said.
"While this situation continues to evolve we will keep talking with industry to determine the best ways to support small businesses."
