The free screening of The Children in the Pictures, organised by the Katherine Women's Information and Legal Service (KWILS), will take place at the Katherine cinema on Thursday at 2pm.
KWILS CEO Siobhan Mackay said the screening forms part of the Katherine Town Council funded 'Starting Conversations' program.
"It's about creating spaces and opportunities within Katherine and the region to bring these really uncomfortable topics out into the open and start conversations more broadly and specifically to Katherine and what we can do...to address some of these issues," Ms Mackay said.
The documentary is an exploration of the Queensland-based Taskforce Argos which goes undercover to rescue children from online sexual abuse.
OTHER NEWS:
Ms Mackay said staff from the Sexual Assault Referral Centre would be there for support, with a catered debriefing to take place at Peakabrew afterwards.
"It's going to be pretty challenging viewing," she said.
She said she hopes the film helps to educate parents and kids about the importance of online safety.
"As a mum myself I still have a lot to learn about online safety from my own children," Ms Mackay said.
"Children's safety is everybody's business. If we can all learn together and make sure we're all protecting children together it's a really good outcome."
Registration to attend the screening can be done via this link.
