The build-up has already brought uncomfortably hot weather, with that ramping up to severe heatwave conditions south of Darwin over the next few days.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast Katherine will get a run of days above 40 degree, with temperatures forecast between 40-42 degrees until at least next Tuesday.
There is also the chance of a thunderstorm on most days.
The heatwave conditions are expected to be the worst in Katherine around the weekend and into early next week.

The heatwave conditions will build across most of the top end, with large sections of the northern part of Australia facing either severe or low-intensity heatwaves.
NT WorkSafe has previously warned workers to keep an eye out for heat related illnesses could range from heat rashes, heat cramps and dehydration to heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which can be fatal.
Symptoms of heat related illnesses can include:
- excessive sweating,
- muscle cramps,
- nausea and vomiting.
Safety tips to help guard against heat related illness include:
- Drink water regularly.
- Use shade protection, a hat and sun screen.
- Check your personal protective equipment is appropriate for the type of work being done and the amount of sun you are exposed to.
- Schedule work to avoid the hottest part of the day
