People of all ages and experience levels are welcome to come along and have a crack at skating, or just watch the action, at the party which kicks off at 5.30pm on December 17.
Katherine Recreation Manager at The Y Katherine, Bron Humphrys, said the event was aimed at creating some Christmas cheer for the community after a tough couple of months.
"We just want to create some Christmas cheer in a nice air conditioned stadium where even if it's raining a lot we still put it on," she said.
"Like a lot of other organizations in town, we've had some pretty rough times and just want to do what you can to try to get people happy again.

"Even if it's not Christmas that you celebrate, just the festive season.
"Just to get out and have some community collaboration and involvement. And some healthy physical activity [with] mental, emotional, social, physical benefits."
Ms Humphrys said the event was also a chance for skaters to get together, or for those who have never skated to give it a try, with skate hire included in the gold coin entry fee.
"All ages, from little bugs to bigger people. Bring your own skates or borrow them from us."
The event will also feature music, disco lights, dancing and prizes, with a special prize for the best dressed.
The Y Katherine Christmas Party is from 5.30pm - 8pm on December 17 at the Henry Scott Recreation Centre. Entry is by gold coin donation.
