Five new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the NT over the weekend as public health measures have been put in place in a number of communities with positive wastewater results.

Four of the cases are linked to the NT outbreak, bringing the total number of cases to 71.
The cases are;
- A male in his 20s from Katherine.
- A male child from Katherine who is a close contact of a previously reported case. The child was already in the Centre for National Resilience (CNR).
- A male teenager from Katherine who is a close contact of a previously reported case.
- A female teenager from Katherine who is a close contact of a previously reported case.
Traces of COVID-19 have been detected in a number of catchments across the Territory including Alice Springs, Barunga, Beswick, Bulla, Bagaragu, Kalkarindji, Lajamanu, Pigeon Hole and Tennant Creek.
Beswick entered a 72-hour lockout at 2pm on Saturday, with a Rapid Assessment Team being dispatched to manage the response, do COVID-19 testing and provide COVID-19 vaccinations.
Under the lockout, fully-vaccinated residents are about to live normally within the lockout area while wearing a mask. Travel is not permitted outside of the lockout area.
A mask mandate has been implemented in all of the other communities and surrounding communities for 72 hours.
A mask mandate remains in place in Katherine until December 15.
Anyone with symptoms in any of these areas is advised to get tested for COVID-19.
