A man has been charged with allegedly driving a vehicle at a group of people in a remote NT community.

Police responded to a large disturbance between two groups in the remote community of Nyirripi last Tuesday January 4.
Police will allege that, during the disturbance, a 22-year-old man drove a vehicle into a group of people, resulting in two men, aged 18 and 24, sustaining significant injuries.
The pair were airlifted to the Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

On Thursday January 6, NT Police from Yuendumu and the Alice Springs CIB located and arrested the man, who was transported to the Alice Springs Watch House and charged with a number of offences including:
- Recklessly endangering serious harm
- Driving a motor vehicle causing serious harm
- Hit and run cause serious harm
- Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed
- Drive an unregistered/uninsured motor vehicle.
The man is scheduled to appear before court in Alice Springs today.
A 28-year-old woman who was struck to the head with an edged weapon during the disturbance was treated at the local clinic for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigations are ongoing.
