According to NT Police, emergency services received reports around 4.30am on Friday morning that a man had been hit by a vehicle on the Victoria Highway, 30km west of Timber Creek.
A 19-year-old man was declared dead at the scene.
Police are now seeking to find the driver and the vehicle involved.

Diversions remain in place along the Victoria Highway with Major Crash investigation.
"Major Crash are in the early stages of our investigation and we would urge the driver of the vehicle to make themselves known to police," Detective Senior Sergeant Corey Borton said.
"The exact circumstances around what happened remain unknown and any motorists who were travelling in the area in the early hours of this morning are urged to contact police on 131 444."
