After the community raised $48,000 at the Triple-0 Ball earlier this year, KCWG chair Toni Tapp-Coutts said the money would be poured back into Katherine to support cancer suffers.
“It has been a wonderful journey to this point and to be able to finally tell the people of Katherine that we will have cancer support and treatment services for cancer patients commencing in 2015,” she said.
“This will help to take some of the strain off cancer patients and their families to be able to access services that will cut the stress and costs of traveling to Darwin.”
$46,5000 of the funds raised by the Triple-0 Ball and Rotary Club of Katherine will be donated to Cancer Council NT to top up the wage of a cancer support worker for the first two years.
