The annual event showcases the diverse range of sports and physical activities on offer in the town, and its interactive format will allow community members to have a go before committing to a club.
Starting at 9am and running until midday, more than a dozen clubs will take part, and the council’s community support officer, Rosemary Jennings, urged Katherinites to get out and take part.
“We would like to encourage all ages to come down and see what the Katherine sporting community can offer,” she told the Katherine Times.
From seven-a-side soccer demonstrations to energetic Zumba displays, Ms Jennings said she believed there would be something on offer that appealed to every one of the hundreds of residents expected to attend.
YMCA Katherine will run free skating workshops and fitness classes on the day, while netball, cricket, martial arts and athletics clubs gear up for the event.
In a boost for residents, the pool will open its gates for free between 11am and midday to allow a reprieve from the soaring mercury.
“It also makes a great morning outing for the whole family,” Ms Jennings said.
