The B-doubles carting the teams' equipment and the Holdens, Fords, Nissans and Mercedes Benz themselves began their journey up the Stuart Highway on Monday, with several teams passing through Katherine on June 16 ahead of Thursday's V8 Supercar transporter convoy.
The convoy, which is a popular prelude to the start of the on-track excitement on Friday, is expected to draw thousands of petrolheads into the Darwin CBD.
Truck driver Wayne Cowper hauls the Erebus Motorsport Mercedes Benz driven by Will Davison and Ash Walsh, and spoke to the Katherine Times about the convoy while refuelling in town on Tuesday afternoon.
"I'm only going as far as Adelaide River today," he said.
"I'll park up there overnight and give the truck a wash tomorrow before heading to Darwin for the parade.
"It'll probably take me about three hours to wash the truck and trailers."
