The official party will be held at the Katherine Showground, with the Northern Territory government, Katherine Town Council and the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre joining forces to present an energetic celebration that will conclude with the sky above the venue exploding in a fireworks extravaganza.
The fun will begin with K-Town Dance Massive, a large-scale community dance event that will showcase the region’s unique art and cultural talent.
Artistic director Bec Reid said she believed the event would leave Katherinites “walking away feeling proud to be a Territorian and of their role in moulding a culture rich in diversity”.
Once the dust settles on the dancing, patrons will look skyward as the town’s biggest fireworks display marks July 1 with a bang.
