This was the first new group of citizens since May bringing the total for this year to 52.
After a backpacking holiday in 2003 Andrew Dunne and his wife decided Australia was more than just a lovely place to visit and they would want to live here.
“I think when we came over in 2003 we fell in love with place, love the way of life,” he said.
“The nature and the people, we want the kids to be a part of it too.”
Due to delays with paperwork only Mr Dunne and his two children, Lydia and Cian, took their oath but his wife said she won’t be far behind them.
When Mr and Mrs Dunne were given the opportunity to move to Australia in 2009 they snatched it up and since then have lived all over Australia.
“We’ve moved around a bit in all honesty,” Mr Dunne said.
“We’ve lived in Queensland, Northern Territory now, and New South Wales.
“I think we’re definitely happier in the north end… it’s a bit more relaxed, we’ve found the people are really nice.”
Also taking their citizenship oath were Mr Andrew Felizardo and Mrs Maria Nolan.
