HALLS Creek cowboy Sally Malay made his mark on the Australian Professional Rodeo Association’s circuit winning the open bull ride and $2,500 at the Pine Creek Rodeo.

Malay was among some of the sport’s heavy hitters at the rodeo including last year’s APRA rope and tie champion Shane Kenny.
About 400 spectators turned out to Pussycat Flats last Friday to cheer on the strong field which included several Pine Creek and Katherine.
The rodeo was preceded by a charity golf day and a rodeo themed dress-up day at the Pine Creek School where Miss Rodeo Queen Katy Scott.
Rodeo organiser Sarah Hoare said she was exceptionally please with the support the rodeo received, especially with high numbers of locals entries.
“In the barrel race there was only one travelling competitor and the rest was all local, Northern Territory girls,” she said.
