According to the Northern Territory Electoral Commission, almost 40,000 Territorians have voted early or applied for a postal vote.
NT Commissioner Iain Loganathan said it was “great to see so many Territorians making their opinion count and embracing the convenience of early voting”.
Voting in the 2016 Northern Territory elections is compulsory.
Election day is Saturday, August 27, and voting centres will be open from 8am to 6pm.
In Katherine, you can vote at the Katherine Civic Centre and MacFarlane Preschool, Grevillea Road, Katherine East.
For Arnhem, Daly and Stuart voting centres, check the schedule at ntec.nt.gov.au

Who wants your vote in Katherine?
WILLEM WESTRA VAN HOLTHE – CLP: Mr Westra van Holthe is the incumbent Katherine MLA. He has held the seat since 2008 and believes the town is best represented by a CLP member.
SANDRA NELSON – ALP: A resident of Katherine for four and a half years, Ms Nelson is aiming for better representation in government for the town.
BRAEDON EARLEY – 1 TERRITORY: A Darwin resident, but from Katherine and prepared to move back, Mr Earley is opposed to fracking in the NT.
CHRIS RIGHTON – SHOOTERS AND FISHERS: Mr Righton lives in Katherine with his wife and young family. He would like to help the town progress.
LEON CELLIER – INDEPENDENT: A resident of the town for about 15 years, the former businessman would like to take to government a voice for Katherine that did not have to adhere to party policy.
DEAN DAVID – INDEPENDENT: Mr David’s family ties with Katherine go back 74 years; and he believes many of the changes seen in Katherine in recent years have not been beneficial for the town.
