The fun pair reckon it is the fifth or sixth time they’ve won the $100 first prize in the various categories.
“I’ve been here 13 years in this unit and I love it,” Mrs Stewart said.
“I am from Sydney so I certainly love the weather here, you don’t get sick or complaints like arthritis,” she said.
“I love to be outside and I find it always interesting to see what’s growing, I have 20 different rose so there’s a lot to keep an eye on.”
Mrs O’Connor, a keen golfer, has lived in her adjacent unit for slightly longer and enjoys the peace and quiet while still living close to the town centre.
“I find gardening relaxing but I have no one plant variety I work with, I like a mixture.”
The pair said the secret to a good garden in Katherine was water and plenty of it.
“Plus you need to build up the soil, feed it and I bring in soil as well,” Mrs Stewart said.
