Peter Pickpocket faced court in Katherine today accused of stealing a pair of deluxe runners from Target Country.

A jury of school children deliberated on Peter’s guilt or innocence as part of the court’s first-ever Law Week activities.

Police cooked a barbecue, various groups handed out water, hats and information about their services as part of the morning’s activities.

But the highlight was the bringing to justice of P. Pickpocket for the January 1 crime which rocked the town.

As part of National Law week, the Katherine legal community invited the town to come and see what goes on behind the scenes at Katherine Local Court.

Judge Armitage presided over the morning’s mock trial, with two assistants on the bench.
