Roll up, roll up the 52nd annual Katherine Show is here.
Showmen are gearing up for a dry and warm weekend ahead with temperatures expected to hit 33 degrees.
Amusement operator Elwin Bell travels the show circuit year round and has just come from the Tennant Creek Show.
“There will be plenty of exciting hair raising rides, you can expect to get white knuckle fever on the No Limit ride,” Mr Bell said.
“All of your favourite rides are back again this year, the ferris wheel, dodge em cars and the V8 simulator.
“Roy Bell’s touring boxing and wrestling stadium is back, we have our own team of fighters who challenge the locals,” he said.
“All of your favourite sideshow games and food are back like fairy floss and dagwood dogs.”
In celebration of the 52nd annual show Katherine Times will be presenting Wednesday mornings Times at 10 livestream from the showgrounds.
As well as crazy rides and tasty treats, there are all the great agricultural displays you expect at an outback show.
Visitors to the tourism department’s stand can enter the draw to win a Top End tourism Golden Ticket.
For the children there will be plenty of hands on entertainment including face painting, cooking classes and a petting zoo.
The opening ceremony will take place at 1pm on Friday followed by the grand parade where children can enter with their pet animals and receive a free ride ticket.
The real cowboy fun will begin when they sun goes down on Friday and Saturday nights and the rodeo kicks off.
Equestrian events began yesterday will continue throughout the rest of the week with more ring events, judging, campdrafting and the Polocrosse Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
The Katherine Show has run since 1965 and works to bring together many strands of the region.
In 2016 more than 17,000 people flocked through the gates at the showgrounds on the Victoria Highway.
Entry into the showgrounds is free for equestrian events today and tomorrow.
The two day show pass for Friday and Saturday is $35 for adults and $18 for children.
