Jessica collected her award yesterday afternoon announced at a special ceremony at the Darwin Entertainment Centre.
She has won $500 for her book The Guardian.
Jemima Devereaux of Katherine was also a regional winner in the awards.
Nightcliff Primary School took out the $500 school prize for their book Paper Pandemonium by class 5/6 More students.
This year there were more than 180 entries from 324 young authors from across the Territory.
City of Darwin general manager of City Life, Anna Malgorzewicz, said she was delighted to see the awards continue to grow with the number of entries increasing and the quality of work getting even better.
“There were so many well produced books entered into this year’s awards, but the judges believed the winning entry was ready to be published,” Ms Malgorzewicz said.
“These awards provide an avenue through which young Territory authors can share their writing and have their work recognised as pieces of literary worth.
“It’s fantastic to see so many young people so passionate about writing and I encourage all young Territorians out there to put their thinking caps on and start brainstorming for next year’s awards,” she said.
As well as the overall winners, awards are given in several categories including age group and regional winners, and highly commended and encouragement awards.
