Last year they equalled the Katherine South Crocs’ four in succession effort and last night at Nitmiluk Oval, went one better.

Final scores: Eastside Blues 12.10 (82) d Katherine Camels 4.6 (30).

The Camels ran out of petrol when it was needed most after the Blues came out firing with three quick goals in the first quarter to never be headed.

The Blues had winners all over the ground but a staunch defence was the key to their victory.

Winger Stephen Rory was judged the Morris Medallist as best afield.

Five Cossack brothers played in the team and captain Cameron said the win was the result of a lot of hard work.

Coach Greg Bain said it was a “great reward for the boys” some who had to travel long distances from outback communities to play.

Earlier, Gurindji Eagles beat Waliburru Thunder to take the premiership cup in the Big Rivers fortnightly competition.

Final scores: Eagles 8.5 (53) d Thunder 5.5 (35).
