Not all the town is suffering the same degree of outages, with Katherine Terrace again appearing to be the worst hit.
Businesses in First Street have only lost power twice so far.
There have already been five electricity outages so far today.
From 8.50am for 10 minutes.
From 11.35am for 10 minutes.
From 1.30pm for seven minutes.
From 2.15pm for two minutes.
From 2.30pm for two minutes.
A Power and Water spokeswoman said the outages were the result of continuing work on the 132kV line to Katherine.
The latest Power and Water response (3.15pm):
- Crew is conducting necessary testing on the 32kV line between Channel Island and Manton.
- Due to the tests, the line is now being supplied from Katherine and Pine Creek power stations.
- This caused several short outages in the Katherine area.
- Power has fully been restored to customers.
- Katherine CBD outage:
- Transformer has caused outages in isolated Katherine CBD location.
- Crew is conducting urgent repairs to restore power.
Businesses say even short outages means computers have to be reset each time as shops fall into darkness and air-conditioners shut down.
The temperature is 38 degrees in Katherine at the moment and still rising.
