“I first of all have to say we have kept the community very well informed as we have become aware of any situation, of anything to do with the PFAS contamination in and around Katherine,” Mayor Miller said.
“As we have been made aware of anything at all the community is aware of it.
“Of course there needs to be concern but I do not think there needs to be undue alarm.”
Mayor Miller said the council was taking precautions wherever they could.
“It is a process that defence have taken and don’t forget this is defence’s issue and defence have gone through a program or a set of programs that they were going to do throughout the town and the pool was one of them,” Mayor Miller said.
Katherine Times will be meeting with Katherine MLA Sandra Nelson and Health Minister Natasha Fyles later today.
