Australia Post said risks such as “trucks frequently entering/exiting the area, dirt and debris” have compromised the safe delivery of mail.
The resident, has lived in Bradshaw Crescent – the new estate at the end of Casuarina Street – for more than a year and a half.
“All the members in our estate have not been able to get Australia Post to deliver letters to our mail boxes,” the resident said.
“The excuses I have received from Australia Post have ranged from; it’s the local post offices fault, the council’s fault, head office's fault, one person even blamed it on the fact its not on Google Maps yet.
“The solution we were told was to purchase a Post Office box and put in a mail redirect which many of us did. Now Australia Post has cancelled our redirects because you cant redirect from a place that has never existed,” he said
“All of the residents in this new estate are getting very frustrated and with all the new RAAF homes being built here at the moment, this problem is going to get even worse very soon.”
An Australia Post spokesman said the company was “committed to providing the community with a reliable and sustainable mail delivery service”.
“We currently deliver mail to residents of Bradshaw Crescent through the local post office, where residents collect their mail over the counter or via a reduced rate Post Office (PO) Box,” the spokesman said.
“There are a number of factors that Australia Post uses to determine the viability of a street mail delivery service, including the number of delivery points, the volume of mail and employee safety.
“As new estates are construction zones, there are a number of risks that impede the safe delivery of mail such as trucks frequently entering/exiting the area, dirt and debris,” he said.
“We recognise that there is growth in this housing estate and we continue to monitor the area with a view to enhancing delivery services once it meets our requirements.”
