Mentor has been invited to town to present the Katherine Netball Association with their Australia Post One Netball Community Award and run a skills clinic for young players.
“Selected as one of eight winners from across Australia, the Katherine Netball Association was recognised for its members’ work in encouraging and embracing players from a remote indigenous school through sport education and accommodating needs around travel and registration,” an Australia Post spokeswoman said.

The superstar goalkeeper will front the Katherine Netball Courts from 5 until 6:30 on Saturday night.
Mentor has played for the Melbourne Vixens and is a current premiership captain of the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
She was a captain and played in the Netball World Cup in Australia in 2015.
The English born goal keeper captained the newly formed Sunshine Coat Lightning squad in the 2017 Super Netball season.
The skipper’s experience was invaluable in the team’s 17-goal grand final triumph over the Giants last year.
Mentor is a three-time premiership winner (Thunderbirds, Vixens and Lightning) and was named the 2014 World Player of the Year.
“Meeting and working with Geva will be a huge opportunity for young netballers in Katherine,” Jilkminggan School teacher Hayley Walker said.
“Geva Mentor will be visiting Katherine to not only present the award but will also run a netball clinic. A free BBQ will follow,” she said”
If you would like your child to participate please email through their name, age and provide a contact number to Hayley Walker: hayley.walker2@ntschools.net by 4:30pm Wednesday.
The Netball Association is looking for volunteers to lend a hand on Saturday.
“A substantial amount of work goes into these events and we would love help in setting up and packing away the equipment, organising teams on the day, cooking and handing out the BBQ and umpiring,” Ms Walker said.
“If you have a child/children coming along, please consider putting your name forward to help. The more people that get involved, the easier these events are to organise.
”If we do not get enough people to help volunteer then we will not be able to run the games and drills.”
