If you sat in churches as a kid and thought an eternity on clouds with harps sounded boring – I’m with you. And if you’ve enjoyed the physical world around you – I’m with you. And so is God.
Jesus was born and lived in his body, died in his body, and rose back from the dead with his body. This is a preview and guarantee of what’s coming: Jesus’ body has had a knock-down-rebuild, and so will the earth and human life.
No more death. No more disease. No more disorder. A world of social and environmental harmony. That’s the Christian hope. Not harps and clouds but new life in a renewed world.
But there’s a catch – a citizenship test, if you like – this new world is Jesus’ world. If you want in, you’ll have to pledge your allegiance to Jesus. And why wouldn’t you, given what he’s done to offer it to you in the first place!
So, nobody’s going to heaven when they die. But where are you going?
