Mr Kershaw has been reappointed until 2023.
Police, Fire and Emergency Services Minister Nicole Manison said: “Mr Kershaw has served as the Commissioner of Police and CEO of Fire and Emergency Services since April 2015.
“His reappointment will ensure continuity and stability in the NTPFES executive.
“Mr Kershaw’s reappointment also coincides with the agency’s new strategic direction, Strategy 2023.
“Mr Kershaw has overseen the Government’s plan to increase police numbers by 120.
“We already have about 100 of those 120 extra police, so we are well on target to deliver our promise.
“As Commissioner he has played a critical role in our efforts to tackle the Territory’s number one challenge – alcohol-related crime and antisocial behaviour, and is also working to bolster police numbers in our remote communities.
“I congratulate Mr. Kershaw on his reappointment.”
