The Giants Academy graduate was pick 16 in the 2015 AFL Draft and debuted as a defender in round 17 the following year. He has kicked 39 goals in 42 games since.
Originally drafted as a forward, Himmelberg showed his flexibility to play at either end of the ground over his first two seasons before a breakout close to 2017 where he kicked four goals in the preliminary final in the absence of Jeremy Cameron.
Giants list Manager Jason McCartney says the club is thrilled to secure the 22-year-old at least until the end of 2023.
"Harry is an outstanding young player and has quickly established himself as a popular and important member of our playing group," McCartney said.
After playing every game for the Giants last season, Himmelberg says he was keen to sign long-term.
The Giants take on Richmond at home on Saturday.
