The pilot, a 40-year-old man believed to have strong links to Katherine, had still not been found during a land and air search.
The search widened on the weekend from the initial area east of the Timber Creek airstrip.
Police said the pilot was believed to have been flying his gyrocopter from Timber Creek, near the Victoria River, on Thursday morning.
An alarm was sounded when he failed to arrive at Stapleton, near Adelaide River, at a scheduled time of 1 that afternoon.
The search effort has been hampered by the remoteness of the planned flight path.
A police spokeswoman said this morning the search had continued into last night and was ongoing.
