It is possible Katherine residents testing positive to coronavirus and not needing urgent medical attention will be sent to wait out their quarantine in isolation there.
Health Minister Natasha Fyles today said urgent cases from the Top End would be directed to Howard Springs and in the south to Alice Springs hospital.
Howards Springs is the former Inpex workers camp used to host overseas travelers a month ago.
The Howards Springs facility is now to become the home for infected non-urgent medical cases and are designed to free up space at hospitals.
If your test is positive, you will be able to access isolation accommodation at the Howard Springs facility, Ms Fyles said today.

The facility has an isolation (red zone) for people with coronavirus (COVID-19) who don't need to go to the hospital.
Appropriate supervision and support will be provided.
Katherine Times questioned whether Howard Springs was the designated destination for Katherine residents who may test positive and not need hospital?
"NT Health will make case-by-case clinical decisions on where and how people who test positive to COVID-19 will be treated," a government spokeswoman said.
